Oh man, that book changed so much for me. It was the first time I was exposed to what she calls “crazy makers.” (It’s a pretty old book now) These days it’s classic sociopathic, narcissistic, etc theory of spinning you up and keeping everything about their drama and guilting you to distract you from doing YOUR important work, and living your best life. When I first read that chapter it was revolutionary to the lifelong People Pleaser MN Nice Girl. It was the first thing that ever taught me that “selfish” is not automatically a dirty word. That I have to take care of my *self* before I can be any good for anybody else.
And then so many creative tools I use to this day. Just...provided you don’t have a problem with the word “God” or can take her suggestion of non-religious translation like I did... that’s what hangs a lot of people up from being able to reap the benefits of the course.
Oooh cool! I’ll have to check that out!! Chakras was another intense discovery that was like the right brain explanation to everything Body Keeps the Score showed L brain. Me being ambi-brained love (really...need) both directions. I hope you have fun with some of #FavoriteThings and that they serve you well. Or if not, lead you find favorite things of your own. ✨😻✨
I have not read the Artists Way — but I’m going to have now.
I have read the body keeps the score — which I thought was excellent.
Recently I read — Rick Rubens book on creativity “the creative act: a way of being” — I found that really good, incase your interested...
Great piece by the way.
The whole chakra thing is new to me - but I find it very interesting :)

That’s sounds great. I’m looking forward to checking it out.
It is so good when a book can affect us so deeply like that — I feel like that’s another part of why I write myself.
Thanks Alexx, I’m sure I’ll have fun with it :)
Totally!! I hear one of the Fictionistas is doing the Artist’s Way in Jan. Lemme see if I can hunt down what she’s up to...
