I don’t remember hearing about the flight down the stairs before! That sounded heavy! Very well described.

I also found the part at the end about the bird lovely and also reminiscent of something I’ve been thinking about lately… I feel as though no matter how hard and shirt and fucked up things are (and lately that’s how they’ve been for me haha) there is still always these little moments of magic and wonder and joy, whether it’s the bird, or my cat on my lap or just a blue sky. I feel like the hard stuff makes us appreciate these little moments more than we otherwise would.

And finally — “I still can’t keep my thoughts behind my teeth.” — is a great phrase. :)

They really are the things that get us through! Sometimes they're only little glimmers but...I dunno. Glimmers are apparently enough because I'm still here and still laughing, smiling, playing, dreaming. And without these dark times, I absolutely would not appreciate them the way I do. You're my writer-inspiration, BTW any time I purposely hunt down these glimmers. You do it so much more seamlessly. I'm like a fuckin' sledgehammer who then pauses to say, "Oh, yeah! And also. This happened. And it was shiny! Where were we? Riiiight..." Yours always has this natural weaving from dark into light. I admire it greatly. Then again, I'm a pretty compartmentalized person with really stark, distinctive modes so I guess my delivery makes sense for me. I'm so glad they resonate. That moment sticks out as particularly wonderful in the scheme of my life.

Oh! And that was not my fall down the stairs. That happened only a couple years ago, I was right at the bottom few steps, and no blood. Still fucked me up but nooooo. This was a flash-forward. Graphic and gory like an ice pick between the eyes every time I went to step down those stairs. Any stairs, really, but that was a Stairway of Doom in that old Victorian house I lived in for many years. Gah.

Hmmmm...writer back office architecture: Anything I need to add in or clarify to make that clear?

Speaking of back office, doooood, that sucks that you're in The Shirt. (I imagine you meant to say "shitty.") Ping me behind the scenes any time you want. We'll clink commiserating coffee cups and ruminate on...I'm trying to get as natural an alliteration for that as the C-words but I only just made coffee and haven't slurped nearly enough yet so... I'll leave the R-words to you.

☕️🤜✨🤛☕️

The glimmers are enough. — I love that!

And thank you, your kind words on my writing is much appreciated.

Ohh I see, I didn’t actually think the other option about the stairs as I was reading. And nah I don’t think you need to change it, that was my bad.

Thanks Alexx I appreciate that! I’ll keep it in mind :)

Ok cool. I was wondering how the transition would land because that’s how it is. It’s like it’s really happening until you “wake up” after a second with your foot partway down the stair. 🤪 Soooo annoying. Yaaaas glimmers.

Yeah, wow! That’s makes a lot of sense. And what an intense (and I imagine somewhat unhelpful) experience to have while walking down stairs haha. :)
